Hi, I'm Carol ... welcome to my blog!
As with every other country, England is famous for its own particular beauty, whether it be of it's tangible elegance - England's "green and pleasant land", or of it's history.
England's "green and pleasant land" includes huge valleys, rolling hills, breathtaking fauna and flora, streams, canals, rivers, to name just a few features of the English landscape.
The history of Britain is full of vast changes and contrasts as the centuries passed by. Victories and defeats of the various kings and queens of England (the British monarchy) left evidence of this everywhere - including remnants of the Stuarts, the Tudor period and of Victorian Britain, not to mention ancient Britain and the mark left by the Saxons, the Romans etc.
England is famous for being cosmopolitan, not only in it's capital, London, or in it's huge cities, such as Birmingham, but also for every town having that international feel as people from all around the world have settled in and happily enjoy the English sense of humour, whilst retaining their own cultures and customs, thereby enriching the diversity of everyday life.
Villages burst with the history of England in their own traditional British style of quaint cottages, winding country roads and narrow walkways. Trekkers are blessed with miles of country paths leading off in many different directions throughout the land. Village life, 'local England' we can say, is a little slower in pace than in towns, but not too much! The great British pub plays an important part of rural life.
A good network of train and bus services make British travel enjoyable, with very little disruption to normal schedules on the whole. In addition to this there are many coach and taxi services available practically everywhere.
Many tourists are fascinated about Britain because of the English humour, the British style of fashion, houses - the saying "an Englishman's home is his castle" comes into play.
The British woman, portrayed as "an English rose" and the traditional style English gentleman may be things of a past era, but they still live on in the memories of those able to recall such a time and they can be seen in the many films depicting eras that go even further back in time, in the form of period dramas, now so popular as movies or television series.
Come and visit England ...
You'll never forget the experience!
